For PHANTASM phans one of most talked about and charming scenes in the original film is the performance of Sittin’ Here At Midnight by Reggie and Jodie. (watch it here)
Forget the fact that the song is amazing and catchy. It was an extremely bold choice for a horror film to take a musical interlude in the middle of the mayhem. But it totally works!

A popular question on PHANTASM social media has been — What kind of guitar and amp is Jody playing? We took it to the fans who as it turns out are some super guitar sleuths in addition to being horror movie fans.
Fan Chris Oxford explains:
It appears that Jody (Bill Thornbury) is playing a Fender Stratocaster, and the amplifier that Reggie is sitting on appears to be a Fender Twin Reverb Amp (with glass tubes no doubt in the back).
Shane Whitbread continues:
The twin is hard to tell. There are wattage differences between the early 70s and later 70s models but without actually looking at it is is more difficult. Strat is a late 60s to 70s model judging by the headstock but again, it is hard to tell years without actually inspecting either of them.
But if they got them both from fender they are probably either 1977 or 1978 models. So the twin would be an ultra linear 135 watt version if it is from 1977 or 1978. Earlier it would be 100 watts.

The Stratocaster has the larger headstock and appears to have a bullet truss rod nut, making it a 1971-1978 model. Always liked the black finish with maple fretboard combo. The amp is a Fender Twin Reverb, the silver faceplate indicates a 1968-1981 model.
