Phantasm 2 ‘Cuda Makes Rare Appearance In Long Beach!

The PHANTASM 2 ‘Cuda Engine at the Belmont Shore Car Show. Isn’t she pretty?

The mighty Phantasm 2 'Cuda made a rare appearance at the Belmont Shore Car Show last weekend. This iconic black 1971 Plymouth 'Cuda has achieved legendary status among both horror film enthusiasts and muscle car aficionados since its debut in Don Coscarelli's 1979 classic Phantasm.

A beautiful day for a car show and the PHANTASM 2 ‘Cuda!

The fact that the car show took place in Long Beach, CA where so much of the original Phantasm was filmed made it extra special, as Long Beach was among the primary filming locations for the original movie.

Director Coscarelli chose the 'Cuda because he remembered being captivated by one in high school, and the production team purchased their triple-black beauty from a kid in Los Angeles who wanted to get rid of it due to rising insurance costs and gas prices in the late 1970s.

The Belmont Shore Car Show, now in its 34th year and one of the largest single-day automotive events in Southern California, provided the perfect backdrop for this rare cinematic tribute car to make its public appearance, creating a full-circle moment where movie magic returned to one of its original filming territories.
